Congratulations to Trinity Preparatory School, FJCL's Club of the Month for January! Trinity Prep JCL held a supplies drive for pets from January 16-30 and donated all of the supplies they received to Pet Rescue by Judy, a charity for animals in Sanford. On January 31st, they went to the Save a Life Pet Rescue in Oviedo and volunteered for three hours, helping the rescue get puppies adopted. They also established a Publicity Rewards Program to help club members get more excited about publicity. Saumya Sao, Trinity JCL President, made posters with all of the prize levels and the point levels according to the Nationals rubric so that club members would be encouraged to participate in publicity.

Salvete, Omnes! The FJCL Officers are here again to give you more important information about all things Latin in Florida.
Finally, Regional Fora are upon us! This past weekend we had six Regional Fora and coming up on the 14th of February, we will have our final two Regional Fora! At Regionals, we take tests, play certamen, and dominate Olympika! It is a great opportunity to get some more practice as well as make some more friends before State Forum rolls around. The Ambassadors Program is a new FJCL program that will be introduced at State Forum and has been in the works since last year! The basic idea behind this program is that current members of the FJCL can apply to become “Ambassadors” meaning that they can earn service hours by helping to expand the membership of the FJCL. Some schools in Florida currently have Latin programs, but are not involved in the FJCL and do not attend State Forum. As Ambassadors, students will be given Ambassador Packets and will find any nearby schools that would be eligible for this program. Ambassadors would then contact these schools and, using the materials provided with the Ambassador Packets, help the school on its way to joining the FJCL. Please email [email protected] if you are interested or have any questions! Another program new to the FJCL is the monthly service projects. The service project for the month of February is focused around helping local hospitals. This could mean making valentines for sick children receiving care or volunteering your time at a local care center. There is also a nation project called “Kick-It for Cancer” where you play kickball to help raise money for cancer research. For more information on this, visit http://www.kick-it.org. Whatever you decide to do, be creative and have fun. Make sure to take pictures of what your club does and submit an application to be “Club of the Month” for your service by submitting your application to [email protected]. This application should just include a description of what your club did as well as the pictures you took. Congratulations to our first ever Club of the Month, Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School! Over the Holiday Season they collected over 250 non-perishable goods to donate to a local food bank so that those less fortunate would have a meal on the holidays. Keep up the good work! Valete!
