Salvete, Omnes! This is our first monthly officer update! This year, monthly letters from the officers will be posted on the FJCL website. To kick things off, we officers are excited to announce the theme of the 2015 State Forum:
Faber est suae quisque fortunae Each man is the architect of his own fate -Appius Claudius Caecus The National Convention at Emory University was a blast, and Florida had awesome success; our novice Certamen team won first place, and the FJCL won First place in the spirit competition at the Friday General Assembly. Special recognition goes to our historian, Sara Meadow, whose amazing scrapbook won first place at Nationals! Florida also helped run the first ever Agon tournament at Nationals. Speaking of Agon, it will now be offered at local Certamen tournaments as well as Regional Forums, and it will be returning to the 2015 State Forum. Also coming to the State Forum is a new Ludi competition, Sight Latin Reading! The Ambassadors program is also returning, and we would like for all chapter presidents to send their contact information to Daniel Griessler, our technology coordinator, so that we can build a communication system for further projects, which will be detailed in the November letter. Along with the ambassadors program, schools participating in the monthly national service projects can now also send their submissions to the FJCL website. Just keep in mind that submissions to the FJCL website will not count toward the publicity contest. Anyone with questions should email Zach Bessette, FJCL Vice President, at [email protected]. Finally, State Forum rules and regulations are now on the FJCL website. School sponsors should be on the lookout for notices concerning changes. Valete! The 2014-2015 FJCL Officers
